What’s working at Accountor like?

As promised, we’re starting a series of interviews with the Accountor Ukraine team!

On March, 6th, our company turned fifteen. Just before this day, we conducted a short survey of the “oldestteam members who have been with us for 3-8 years. We were curious why they chose Accountor in the first place, how this choice affected their professional life, and what they think of their work at Accountor Ukraine.

Hopefully, the responses will help those readers who are hesitating to apply for our open positions, or who are not sure whether our #DreamTeam is worth joining 😉

“It’s like playing a game: after you win a round, you’ve got to pass a more difficult one . And I’ve always enjoyed this game, even if I have to face the hardest challenges.”

- How long have you been with Accountor?

Since March 2015. By now, I am the "oldest" employee of Accountor Ukraine 😊.

- Why did you choose Accountor among all the other job offers you had?

Outsourcing always has this “drive", it’s all about new challenges, new knowledge and new experience. It doesn’t let you get bored, you know. That is why I chose to work for outsourcing companies back in 2009. Apart from the opportunity to keep growing professionally as an Accountant, Accountor offered me the position of Head of Consulting.

- What did working at Accountor teach you?

At Accountor, I started as Head of Consulting (along with providing accounting services for several clients) and worked my way up to Executive Director. Accountor taught me how to build endurance, strengthened my courage, inspired me with new ideas and provided an opportunity to develop new processes at the company (which we’ve been constantly reviewing and improving).  What is obvious to me is that "powerful" results are the fruits of teamwork. And we showed such results rather quick after making certain reforms: before the start of the full-scale invasion, our average business growth rate was 33% annually. However, we still have a lot to work to do, and that's great!

- What have been the most memorable moments at work so far?

You know, it's like playing  a game: after you win a round, you’ve got to pass a more difficult one 😊. And I’ve always enjoyed this game, even if I have to face the hardest challenges.

- If you could describe your work at Accountor in one word, what would it be?

“Opportunability!” 😎

“It was my conscious choice in favor of outsourcing: I chose the constant variety of projects and challenges.”

- How long have you been with Accountor?

By March 18, I will have been with Accountor for seven years. I remember when I came in for the job interview, the office was decorated to celebrate the 8th anniversary 😊”

- Why did you choose Accountor among all the other job offers you had?

Well, I can say, I chose Accountor twice.

The first time was when I first got a job here. By that time, I had worked as outsourcing specialist, as an in-house lawyer and I had had my own law practice. So, it was my conscious choice in favor of outsourcing: I choose the constant variety of projects and challenges.

The second time was when I decided to change my career path from law to sales & business development, and Accountor offered me to lead these areas. I chose to stay because I believed in the development of Accountor.

-  What did working at Accountor teach you?

Distinguishing between the really important tasks and the stuff that is not so important, and concentrating on the first.

- What have been the most memorable moments at work so far?

Oh, I could tell those stories for hours. There’ve been so any memorable moments… and I have a good memory! ;)

- If you could describe your work at Accountor in one word, what would it be?

I need two words: creating opportunities🙌.

«During the job interview, I had this gut feeling that this company had a positive work environment, a nice team and a friendly vibe»

- How long have you been with Accountor?

By October 2023, I will have been here for six years.

-Why did you choose Accountor among all the other job offers you had?

During the job interview, I had this gut feeling that this company had a positive work environment, a nice  team and a friendly vibe, which is extremely important for me. Besides, the career opportunities were clearly outlined and, as I can tell by now, they all corresponded to reality, because I started as a Junior Accountant and worked my way up to the Head of the Finance in two years😊. In general, I realized I wanted to work at Accountor right in the middle of the job interview.

- What did working at Accountor teach you?

It’s hard to list all the skills I have acquired. Those are both hard skills (related to accounting and taxation, management accounting, English language courses, Excel courses, courses for obtaining the CAP certificate) and soft skills (significant improvement of my business communication skills, ability to make decisions independently, problem-solving approach, stress management, teamwork). I can say without any hesitation that all these years, I’ve been developing with Accountor.

- What have been the most memorable moments at work so far?

Now, I think of our trip to Finland in January as of the brightest moment. Words can hardly describe the emotions we felt. In short, we felt that we were part of a big team, a big company that supports and values us, regardless of our size and our share in the total profit of Accountor Group. And this a great proof of of the “People First!” principle.

If you could describe your work at Accountor in one word, what would it be?

Trust💗
