From 50 million to 260: Ankarsrum Kitchens' success with Accountor as partner

Ankarsrum Kitchen, the company behind the iconic kitchen assistant, is growing steadily. A growing interest in home cooking has taken the company from a turnover of 10-15 million to over 200 million. Here, Ankarsrum Kitchen's CEO, Marcus Grimerö, explains how Accountor became a valuable partner in their growth journey, providing expertise, advice, and ongoing management.

Explosive growth required a partner to grow with

"We deliver more than a kitchen assistant - it's an overall solution. The kitchen assistant has been part of Swedish households since the 1940s and offers a multitude of functions, from whisking and meat grinding to ice cream making, pasta making, and vegetable cutting. The aim is to make it easier to cook from scratch, simplify everyday life, and encourage people to try new recipes."

This is what Marcus Grimerö, CEO of Ankarsrum Kitchen, says. His company's financial journey just as impressive as the kitchen machine.

"From a turnover of 40-50 million, we now have a turnover of over 200 million, with a peak of 260 million. The growing trend of people wanting more control over their food, especially during the pandemic, has really helped our growth."

Requires great flexibility from Accountor

The partnership with Accountor began in 2020 after a reorganization when the company Ankarsrum Kitchen AB took its current form. Historically, the kitchen machine has been under other companies, including Electrolux, but is now a separate limited company. 

Instead of building an internal department for reporting and payroll management, Ankarsrum Kitchen chose to seek an external partner, and the choice fell on Accountor.

"The changing staffing needs have required great flexibility from Accountor. Sometimes we need four people, sometimes only two. And Accountor has always been able to meet the requirements," Marcus explains.

Business advice that strengthens the company during the growth journey

Marcus also emphasizes how valuable the expertise provided by Accountor is.

"When we have encountered problems or questions, we have always been able to turn to Accountor for advice. We've had a lot of contact with their Advisory department, and they have a good understanding of our business. They can see the impact that different decisions can have on our business."

The personal element of the collaboration is something Marcus particularly appreciates.

"In our current phase, it wouldn't have worked if it was an impersonal service. It's not just about day-to-day administration, but also about development."

A holistic approach to reporting and payroll 

On a practical level, the collaboration with Accountor has led to monthly reporting, annual reports and all dialogues with the Swedish Tax Agency being handled smoothly and efficiently through Accountor. They are responsible for the ongoing accounting and reporting, which frees up time for the team at Ankarsrum Kitchen to focus on developing the company. The latest major change is that they have opened two new international offices.

Marcus concludes by giving Accountor a compliment.

"We have sometimes put Accountor to the test, but they have always delivered. It's a partnership we really value."
